I just recieved 2 Showcenter 200 boxes and am having a problem. The initial install went fine and the default files that came with the unit play fine but when I try to import files from my network shared drive it says: ' 0 imported, 0 confirmed 15996 rejected' And the error log says 'file access denied' I found a possible fix which requires going to the Showcenter service under services but I do not have this service listed. I am trying to import files I have on 2-2 terrabyte drives in an e-sata box connected to a pc other then the one that has the Pinnacle software installed.
Pinnacle Show Center 200 Review
Thanks Rudmeister. I dug up a PC running XP Pro on the network. I installed the 2.50 SC software.
I can now see the menus from the PC and I think the firmware is updated (not sure about how to tell on the device itself). I still don't have access to the USB drive. This is supposed to be able to read files, and is the only way to do the beta update. I don't know for sure if my USB port is broken, but I followed all the Pinnacle instructions.
It is really frustrating not to even have tech support to tell if I have to return the unit! I promised myself I would never buy from Pinnacle again after everything I had bought from them broke, and here I am being cheap and trying this piece of #@$%@! Now that I am done ranting, has anyone been able to read media off of a USB drive? If so, what type of drive? I am using a pretty simple flash drive.
And the reason I am trying to upgrade to the beta is that I have a Vista MCE machine with all the media on it and I would like to use this as a media extender for that. If there is a way that this thing works with MCE (Vista) and I am missing it, please let me know. Gergg when you first cold-boot the SC200 and it finds the server, it should automatically update to the latest firmware (associated with 2.5 package). The firmware files are located in c: program files pinnacle showcenter docpath misc lyra20 and the latest is from 11/15/05 I believe (file 15-03-PIN-230-000.bin). If you tell me what your SC200 is showing for a rev (it's at the bottom of the Settings/Advanced Setup screen IIRC, you may have to scroll-down to see it) I will confirm if it is the 'latest'. Dunno what to say about the USB thing except to try another drive/borrow one. I believe from the SC200, assuming the drive is even LISTED as a server, that you will only be able to see/list files that the SC recognizes i.e.
Vid/aud/jpg etc. You should probably go to the Pinnacle ShowCenter forum to seek help ith this. I probably wouldn't need the USB port if I could update the software any other way.
I would like to work with Vista MCE soon. I also just wanted to point out that I figured out how to access files from a media server when the Showcenter software is on another PC. All you have to do is enable 'File Access' on the SC200, then use the Settings program on the SC PC to add the folders on the server.
You must map the server's drive(s) first, but then you can add any mapped folder and set it for Music, Video, Photos or all three. OK I just tried my Crucial 256Mb flash drive (FAT32) and it worked fine. Plugged it in, see the LED flashing as the 200 accessed it. Go to Servers screen & see 'CRUCIAL' there along with an icon that looks like a drive. Entering the CRUCIAL I could see two files, one a.txt and the other an.mpg that I put on there for testing.
I do, overall, like Windows 10 and am learning more reasons to like it every day, but they sure screwed up on the games – no recommendations there other that switch back. I want my window 7 games back and MS can trash all their new versions.
Lots of other files but apparently the 200 only recognizes certain extensions. Played the mpg. Anyway gergg if your SC200 isn't seeing any FAT32 drive there, then it must be faulty-does your flash drive have a LED that lights when you plug it in? Re: File Access yeah that's how I play all the HD transport streams that I capture; I don't import to the MediaManager database, I just play them on the SC200 and then convert/delete them later. I will try the new firmware update procedure later when I have more time.
