In many problems the problem assumes that the reader understands various elements of the problem itself, that are not otherwise specified within the problem or the lesson.
This is increasingly frustrating as one remembers the earlier chapters of this text championing the Polya Problem Solving Method, the first step of which is 'to understand the problem'. Many problems within this text are overly assuming and poorly worded in a way that prohibits an understanding of the problem, and does not offer sufficient material to compensate.
